Martha

A Pilgrimage to the Cross

Walking through Lent with Jesus

Monday 21st March

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

                                                      Luke 10: 38-42

What is on your “to do list” today?
What jobs and demands are you looking forward to? How do you feel when you have achieved something, when you can tick it off your list?
What would the consequences be if a job was not done?
How would you feel?
How would others in your family, your office, your team feel?

What would Jesus think?

What has most value in your home or your workplace- conspicuous industry, unseen and unsung hard work, or being able to take time on relationships, even at the cost of productivity?

Martha opened her home to him….. Martha was prepared to welcome Jesus, and in return he told her the truth about herself. Are we prepared to welcome Jesus into our life’s daily routines, and hear what he has to say?
